It nice to be able to write something for you guys to read again! I'm sorry that I am an horrible updater but I still sincerely hope that you guys don't give up on my blog because I have things lined up for you guys. The ideas are out and I just need time to write them. I shall be beginning on a new series- Yay Or Nay? where I will share my views on certain issues. You can also see it in a way that it is just me ranting about life. :p Still, I hope you will enjoy them. Now, for Chapter 1 of Yay or Nay?, featuring, Holiday Homework!
So this came about when I saw a newspaper article in the IN section of the Straits Times given to me by my school quite some time ago. I just haven't been able to find the time to start writing about it. The article was about kids like me complaining on social media about not being able to complete their holiday homework during the last day of the holidays. "Holiday is the open window for kids to think out of the box and unleash their creativity, and homework should not be the demon that shuts that window." This was the most inspiring sentence in that article that inspire me to write about the topic, holiday homework. Now the writer's classmates and friends may have been wasting their holiday previously, because(not showing off or anything but still...) I have once been a Primary 6 pupil facing the PSLE at the end of the year. And my Science teacher had assumed that we had been given the PLSE booklet when in fact we had not. When my teacher realise, she was shocked and since it was already June(we had extra lessons), she had no choice but to give us the booklet and ask us to complete it by Term 3, July. Of course, while I had classmates who did not attempt and just copied our teacher's answer, I was not one of them. I faithfully tried every question in the I dunno 400+ pages booklet in hope that it would pay off during the exam. I struggled in the holidays to complete it on top of the mountain of homework form other subjects given before the holidays.Although I nagged at my Science teacher for not giving us the booklet earlier, I still tried my best to complete all my homework by the time school began and got some revision in too. The hard work paid off in the end when I graduated from my beloved primary school with an aggregate of 251+2, 1A* and 3As. It was through this experience that I realised that no matter how much homework you seem to have, it will not be more than what you can handle, if you do have that determination to do well in school, academically.
That said, I understand that holidays are the time for us to indulge in hobbies and also to rest and recharge ourselves, but would it not be more relaxing to have fun AFTER finishing your school work?
Thus, although you will hear me complain about school holiday homework, you will usually not see me rushing through them in the middle of Sunday night, simply because I stick to the belief of "BITTER FIRST, SWEET LATER" or "先苦后甜“ in Chinese. This is also the reason behind why I usually do not go out for fun during the first few weeks of the holidays. I leave all that fun for the last week of the holiday, where I will have a blast then prepare for school in the next few days.
